So, Here We Go: A Dream, A Bus, and a Shift in Plans

Hi! I’m Roselyn—and I’m writing this first blog post with a mix of excitement, vulnerability, and deep gratitude that we’ve made it this far.
This whole journey began with a dream—one that involved snow-covered mountains, wide-open roads, and the four of us (plus our trusty little husky) chasing a slower, more intentional life together.
Originally, the plan was big. We carved out space in our lives for a six-month family road trip in our self-renovated mini bus. We imagined winding through the States and Western Canada, following the snow from one mountain to another with our Epic Passes in hand, visiting as many ski resorts as we could.
Simon has always dreamed of chasing snow—and I was all in, picturing a balance of ski days, cozy bus life, and soaking in as many hot springs as I could find along the way.
We poured so much of ourselves into prepping for this—building out the bus, organizing our lives, downsizing, planning routes, juggling work and homeschooling... and then, life happened.
Unexpected health events, delays with the bus conversion, and the reality of everything that needed to fall into place gently nudged us toward something we didn’t want to admit at first: we needed to shift gears.
The six-month trip we had planned became a three-month adventure, and instead of a gradual descent through the U.S., we’ll be heading directly to British Columbia—making the most of the time we do have in the mountains.
It wasn’t an easy decision. Letting go of the original plan stung. But over time, we’ve realized something important: this trip was never just about the timeline. It was about creating space for what matters—time together, being outside, exploring this beautiful country, and seeing what happens when we let go of routine and trust the journey.
So that’s where this blog begins. Not from a place of perfection, but from one of presence.
We'll be sharing:
🚐 Behind-the-scenes of our bus build and road life
❄️ Adventures chasing snow (still!)
🌱 Sustainable living hacks and how we make it work on the road
🧡 Reflections on parenting, partnership, and all the beautiful messes in between
I created this space as a way to connect—with you, with this moment, with the version of ourselves we’re becoming.
Whether you're here for inspiration, eco-friendly ideas, travel tips, or just to follow along with our family's wild ride, I’m so glad you’re here.
Next up: A peek inside our tiny bus home and how we packed for three months on the road with two kids, a dog, and a whole lot of dreams. 🚌💛
With love,
Roselyn (and Simon)
